Anxiety and Emotion Regulation

In our working group, we are particularly dedicated to research into the development and maintenance factors of anxiety disorders in children and adolescents.

For example, in the project “Children’s fears” together with the University of Freiburg we are investigating corresponding processes in social anxiety disorders in children and adolescents. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Our research approaches combine behavioural observation and self-disclosure with bio-psychological methods from the fields of peripheral physiology, electroencephalography (EEG) and eye-tracking. While on the one hand we investigate psychological processes in children and adolescents under controlled conditions in experimental studies, on the other hand the everyday recording of psychological phenomena is another important research focus of our working group.
