Two exciting master thesis topics - call for applications

14. March 2018

Project: „Consequences of linguistic similarity in preschoolers“

The master’s thesis is a continuation of a current research project on homophily (preference for self-similarity) at the Leipzig Research Center for Early Child Development in Cooperation with the CNRS in Bron (Lyon, France). In this project we are investigating in which situations children prefer (linguistically) similar other children. To examine this, preschoolers are presented with German and French stimuli and asked about their preferences. Through these studies we want to find out in which situations linguistic similarity is important for children and which inferences they draw from another person’s language and accent.
