Diseases of civilization accompany society more and more frequently nowadays. With the start of the LIFE Child study about a decade ago, the foundation was laid for a special interdisciplinary research: The study of healthy child development from pregnancy to early adulthood with regard to the development and prevention of diseases – and with complete success! Since the start of the study in 2011, more than 4500 children and more than 1000 pregnant women have already been examined.
LIFE Child is not only of particular importance for the city of Leipzig as a location for research into childhood, but the LFE is also pleased to be cooperating with the study. For example, the development of emotional language is being researched with the AG Saalbach.
On behalf of the entire LFE, we would like to congratulate the LFE on its 10th anniversary and see the study as the basis for Leipzig’s development into a German hotspot for interdisciplinary research on child development in the years to come.
