Prof. Dr. Wieland Kiess, Director of the Clinic and Polyclinic for Child and Adolescent Medicine at Leipzig University Hospital and a member of LFE from the very beginning, invites you to the first symposium “Paediatric Research” in Leipzig on 7 July 2018.
In his greeting it says:
“Welcome to the first Symposium on Paediatric Research in Leipzig. We cordially invite you to attend the symposium and listen to some of the leading paediatricians and paediatric clinical scientists of our times. Meet these European and world experts and discuss the health needs of children and adolescents in our changing environments.
For the last 20 years we have built up a center for paediatric research (Center for Paediatric Research Leipzig = CPL) of the Hospital for Children and Adolescents, University of Leipzig. Paediatric research in Leipzig is translational and includes basic science involving genetics, epigenetics, cell biology and biochemistry approaches. Our research reaches out into and includes epidemiological work in the LIFE Child cohort, a population-based cohort of pregnancy, birth and healthy children and adolescents. The participants of the cohort are being followed longitudinally.
The first symposium on paediatric research to be held in the Kongreßhalle Leipzig, on the 7th, July, 2018, will focus on epidemiological and epigenetic data from four large paediatric cohorts, the generation R study from Rotterdam, KUNO Kids from Regensburg, Ulmer Spatz from the university of Ulm and LIFE Child, Leipzig. International experts will share their data and views on various aspects of paediatric endocrinology and diabetes and last but not least about the importance and relevance of general paediatrics and paediatric research.”
